아시아 프로듀서들의 국제적 네트워크가 가시화되고 있다. 지난 10월14일 세미나 등 다양한 행사를 가진 ‘아시아 프로듀서 네트워크’(APN)는 공식적으로 준비위원회를 꾸리고 본격적인 출범 준비에 들어갔다. APN은 지난 3년동안 한국영화제작가협회(제협)가 주도한 한국·중국·일본 프로듀서 포럼을 기반으로 하며, 합작 등 아시아 영화계의 다양한 협력을 보다 수월하게 만들기 위한 조직. 김형준 제협 회장은 “모임을 계속하다 보니 관심도 많아졌고 주변 사람들도 많아져 범 아시아 차원으로 넓혀보자는 의견이 모였다”고 출범 배경을 밝혔다. 준비위원회에는 이번에 부산을 찾은 홍콩, 싱가포르, 타이, 뉴질랜드 등의 국가가 참여하고 이후 호주, 말레이시아, 인도네시아 등 기타 아시아 국가도 동참시킬 예정이다. APN은 내년 5월 열리는 홍콩 필름마트에서 공식 출범할 계획이다.

‘프로듀서 클럽’(가칭)도 활발한 논의를 전개하고 있다. 독일과 미국에서 활약중인 이인아 프로듀서가 중심이 된 이 네트워크는 아시아, 유럽, 미국 등의 프로듀서가 상대 지역에서 촬영할 때 서로 정보를 제공해주고, 국제적 감각을 가진 프로듀서를 양성하기 위한 것이다. 이인아 프로듀서는 “한국, 중국, 일본 등 외에도 미국, 독일, 프랑스, 영국, 루마니아, 그리스의 프로듀서가 참여할 예정이며, 일단 20여명이 중심이 되는 작은 모임을 시작할 것”이라고 밝혔다. 프로듀서 클럽은 내년 아시안필름마켓에서 정식으로 발족하게 된다.

Setting the Foundation for Collaboration in the Asian Film Community

An international network of Asian producers is taking shape. This October 14th, with a seminar and other events, the Asia Producer's Network (APN) preparatory committee arranged for their full-scale launch next year. Under the initiative of the Korean Film Producer's Association, for the past 3 years APN has been a forum for producers from Korea, China and Japan to simplify the creation of joint productions in Asia. Clarifying the backdrop of the APN launch, KFPA Chair Kim Hyung-joon said, "With more meetings, interest increases, participants increase, and we focus our perspective towards widening to Pan-Asian dimensions." Participating in this year’s committee were representatives from Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and New Zealand with members from Australia, Malaysia, and Indonesia scheduled to attend the next meeting. The official launching will be at the Hong Kong Film Mart in May 2007.

Also featured was a lively discussion about the tentatively named "Producer's Club." This network, guided by producer Lee In-ah, who has worked in Germany and the US, aims to share information among producers from Asia, Europe and the US when they seek to work worldwide, and to help create producers with an international sensitivity. Lee said "We want to have producers not only from Korea, China and Japan, but from the United States, Germany, France, and elsewhere, beginning with a small meeting of a core group of about twenty people." The Producer's Club will have its official inauguration at next year's Asian Film Market.
