아시안필름마켓이 10월15일 오전 11시 그랜드호텔 1층 로비에서 열린 개막식과 함께 나흘간의 일정을 시작했다. 부산국제영화제가 11회를 맞아 의욕적으로 출범시킨 아시안필름마켓은 기존 PPP(부산프로모션플랜)와 BIFCOM(영화산업박람회)을 확대한 것으로 파이낸싱부터 판매까지 전 부문을 아우르는 종합영화시장이다. 이날 개막식에는 아시안필름마켓 공동 운영위원장을 맡은 김동호 부산국제영화제 집행위원장과 박광수 부산영상위원회 위원장을 비롯해 허남식 부산시장, 박형준 의원, 안정숙 영화진흥위원회 위원장, 이춘연 영화인회의 이사장, 뉴질랜드 오클랜드시의 필 하버 시장 등이 참석했다. 이 자리에서 허남식 시장은 “부산국제영화제가 지난 10년간의 성과를 바탕으로 새로운 도전을 시작했다”면서 “이곳을 찾는 모든 이들에게 부산시는 아낌없는 지원을 하겠다”고 약속했다. 한편 개막식에는 아시안필름마켓이 최초로 시도하는 ‘스타 서밋 아시아’에 참여하는 한국의 황정민, 장진영을 비롯해 중국의 저우신, 구오샤오둥, 베트남의 도티하이옌, 한국계 미국인 레오나르도 남 등 배우들이 참여해 행사의 성공을 기원하는 ‘아트 트리’에 메시지를 적는 이벤트를 갖기도 했다.
40개국 400여개 업체가 참여하는 아시안필름마켓은 18일까지 그랜드호텔까지 열리며, 세일즈 부스는 18~21층, PPP 미팅룸은 22층, BIFCOM 행사장은 2층에 각각 마련된다. 행사 기간 중에는 프로듀서 워크샵, 배우들의 커튼 콜 등 다양한 부대행사가 열리게 된다.
The Curtain Opens on the Asian Film Market
The four-day Asian Film Market (AFM) began at 11:00 a.m. on October 15th with its opening ceremony at the Grand Hotel. Together with the expansion of the Pusan Promotion Plan (PPP) and BIFCOM, the ambitious founding of AFM seeks to create a 'Total Market', addressing everything from financing to sales and marketing.
Among the opening ceremony attendees were PIFF director and ASM Co-director Kim Dong-ho, ASM Co-director Park Kwang-su, Pusan Mayor Hur Nam-sik, National Assemblyman Park Hyung-jun, Korean Film Commission Chairman An Jeong-suk, and Lee Choon-yeong, Director of the Korean Association of Film Art amp; Industry. Mayor Hur announced that “the Pusan Film Festival builds on the success of its past ten years to accept a new challenge," promising that "all who come here will be met with unstinting support."
Also at the opening ceremony were actors from ASM's inaugural 'Star Summit Asia', including Korea's Hwang Jung-min and Jang Jin-young, China's Zhou Xun and Guo Xiaodong, Vietnam's Do Thi Hai Yen and Korean-American Leonardo Nam, who all left written wishes attached to the 'Art Tree', in the hope that the event would be a big success.
All events will be held at the Grand Hotel through October 18th, with sales booths of 400 companies from 40 nations on the 18th to 21st floors, the PPP meeting room on the 22nd, and the BIFCOM on the 2nd floor. Other events include the Production Workshop and the Actors' Curtain Call.
