막바지 준비가 한창인 전주 영화의 거리

여섯번째 개막식을 눈앞에 두고 있는 전주영화제가 마지막 점검을 하기 위해 분주한 시간을 보내고 있다. 올해 전주영화제는 메인 상영관 중의 하나였던 전북대 문화관을 개·폐막식을 위한 용도로만 사용하고, 상영관을 메가박스를 비롯한 고사동 ‘영화의 거리’로 집중했다. 공연과 전시 등이 열리는 ‘JIFF FESCADES’도 ‘영화의 거리’에 있다. 그 덕분에 무대와 부스 준비로 부산한 고사동은 예년에 비해 축제 분위기로 활기넘치는 모습이다.

개막식이 열리는 전북대 문화관도 손님 맞을 준비를 하고 있다. 영화배우 정진영과 장신영이 진행하는 개막식은 28일 오후 7시에 열릴 예정. 재즈 싱어 나윤선과 독일 재즈 피아니스트 프랑크 뵈스테가 축하공연을 하고, 이어서 송일곤과 쓰카모토 신야, 아핏차퐁 위라세타쿤이 연출한 개막작 <디지털 삼인삼색 2005>가 상영된다. 전주영화제 홍보대사인 김동완, 영화감독 임권택과 홍기선, 이현승, 영화배우 문성근, 정찬, 이문식, 이혜은 등이 영화제의 출발을 축하하기 위해 개막식을 찾는다. 이밖에도 폐막작 <남극일기>에 출연한 송강호와 유지태, 야외상영 무대인사를 하게 될 김선아와 수애, <다섯 개의 시선>을 연출한 장진과 김동원, 박경희 감독 등이 8박9일 동안 계속되는 축제의 손님들이다.

보이지 않는 곳에서도 영화제를 위해 바쁘게 움직이고 있는 사람들이 있다. 기술자막팀은 메가박스 3관과 6관, 9관에 설치된 디지털 영사시스템을 준비하고, 28일 개막작 상영을 위해 영사장비를 들고 전북대 문화관으로 이동하기까지 해야한다. 주로 단편영화에 해당하는 16mm 영사시스템은 메가박스 9관에 설치했다. 여러 편을 함께 상영하는 단편영화의 경우 영화의 포맷이 바뀔 때마다 포커스가 맞지 않는 등 문제가 있었지만, 올해는 다르리라는 것이 기술자막팀의 장담이다. 작년보다 1주일 정도 늦게 시작된 전주영화제는 날마다 봄기운을 더해가는 햇빛을 받으며 축제를 향해 달려가고 있다.

Let's Go! JIFF is being busy with the last checking just before the 6th opening ceremony. The CBNU Cultural Center, which was one of main venues, is used just on the purpose of the opening and closing ceremony at this year's JIFF and GosaDong Cinema District where Megabox is located centrally takes main venues. 'JIFF FESCADES' where various performances and exhibitions are held is also located in the district. With those arrangement, the boisterous GosaDong with preparation of fesitival stages and booth are remarkably vivid.

The CBNU Cultural Center is also being prepared to welcome guests of the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony led by Korean film actor and actress, Jeong Jin-young and Jang Sin-young is going to be held at 7 PM of 28th. A Jazz singer, Na Yoon-sun and a German Jazz pianist, Frank Woste will have celebrating performances and the opening film Digital Short Films by Three Directors directed by Song Il-gon, Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Shinya Tsukamoto will be screened. The following celebrities will also visit Jeonju: Kim Dong-wan, JIFF Spokesperson, Korean film directors, Im Kown-taek, Hong Gi-sun and Lee Hyun-Seung, Korean film actors and actresses including Moon Seong-gun, Jeong Chan, Lee Moon-sik and Lee Hye-eun. And JIFF will have more special guests: Song Gang-ho and Yoo Ji-tae starring in the closing film Antarctic Journal and Kim Sun-ah and Soo-ae who will have special meeting program on an open stage, the directors making If You Were Me 2 Jang Jin, Kim Dong-won and Park Kyoung-hee.

You should not forget people busily working for the festival in shade. The technical and subtitles staffs are checking out digital projection system set up at Megabox 3, 6 and 9 and have to shift digital devices to the CBNU Cutural Center for showing of the opening film on April 28th. 16mm projection system generally for showing of short films is set up at Megabox 9. It has been usually difficult to clearly focalize because of various film format in the case of short films which more than a few films are screened together but the technical and subtitles staffs guarantee there will be no problems in this year. JIFF, which opens one week later than last year, is going for the festival in brighter spring sunshine.
